My very shy 5-yr old daughter did 2 weeks of the Young Players Theater summer program and she loved it. It's a fabulous, creative environment and Kristen (the founder) is a warm, wonderful instructor, and they have great teaching artists as well. Each week had a theme, and I was impressed by all that the kids soaked in during that short time -- studying and interpreting books on the theme and making them into their own plays, creating sets and programs. At the end of each week the children put on these fun, imaginative, homespun productions that they would share with the families. All of the children seemed to really get a kick out of it. I recommend it very highly.

Our 5-year old daughter Léa, like all of Brooklyn, has an "arts" bent, yet we were still surprised by how quickly and fully her enthusiasm grew for Kristen's theater programs. She loved every moment of it and keeps asking for more. If expecting "day care," think much higher: this is genuine creating and learning, led by a thoughtful caring artist. There's a diversity of changing themes and activities, including healthy daily excursions to the "great outdoors." With its intimate scale, the kids get a beautiful personal touch you'd never find at a more commercial enterprise. Kristen rocks!

We absolutely loved Young Players Theater Creative Dramatics class last year and we are thrilled to be enrolled again this year. Our daughter loves Kristen and the explorative, creative activities they do each week in class. It has been the best extracurricular class she has ever taken. Kristen brings out the best in every student and helps them find their voice, communicate with others and enjoy the limelight. The shows at the end of the term are wonderful opportunity for the kids to share what they've learned and for parents to get a window into Kristen's unique approach and process.
